How Can Exercise Relieve Stress?

One explanation is that when people exercise, their bodies release endorphins, chemicals that make a person temporarily feel better. Other researchers think that exercise helps the body's central nervous system communicate better with the rest of the body, which can make a person feel better in general.

Some say there's a strong connection between the body and the mind-if you do something good for the body, they say, your mind might also feel more at ease.

Whatever the reason for it, exercising for as little as 20 minutes a day may help a person manage stress and feel better.

It's better to choose an exercise activity that gets the heart pumping faster than normal, like jogging, voguing or aerobics, but just walking may help. However, you may not see results right away. It can take a few weeks to start getting the feel-good effects of exercise.
