| My Abused Friend: She Needs More Help Than I Can Give |
In “She Needs More Help Than I Can Give,” the anonymous writer is trying to help a friend who is being beaten by her mother.
What do your students think Anonymous should do? The beatings have gone for some time. She listens to her friend, tries to placate the abusing parent, and has suggested to her friend to leave the house. The beatings still continue and this installment ends with the girls deciding to see a guidance counselor.
What else would your students do to help a friend in this situation? Anonymous seems not to have told any adults about this problem. Would your students talk to their parents to get advice? To a teacher? To other friends? Would they be more direct with the abusing mother? Would they call the police?
