POETRY: Why Did My Friend Have to Go?
Sammi W.

Where do I go? Where do I turn?
Where do I hide? Where do I find my friend?
I’m searching for her inside the house,
Under the bed, behind the couch.
She’s not there, where she could be?
Wait, I wake up, it’s just a dream.
I run down the street, hear a gun
Turn around, she’s laying down,
Blood over by her head on the ground.
I run, hold her in my arms
Watching her die, pregnant.
The doctor cuts the baby out.
She’s OK! But my friend’s funeral,
I have to go, read out loud,
Ask God, why did my friend have to go?
She’s all I had!
She’s my everything!
