POETRY: The Mud Path
Ramse Dunn, 16
Wickliffe, OH

I wake up and walk down the left side of the street where the mud path is at.
I walk until I see the mud path then I try to run through it and get all muddy.

The next morning I walk down the left side of the street where the mud path is at.
I walk until I see the mud path and then I try to jump over it, but I trip, then fall into the mud.

The next morning it’s very dark out, but still I wake up and walk down the left side of the street and I see the mud path and start heading towards the road.
It’s so dark I can’t see a thing, and out of nowhere, I get run over by someone on their bike and fall into the mud path.
I’m tired of this happening every day, so I decide that tomorrow will be different.

I wake up and walk down the right side of the street.
While walking I look over to examine the mud path and the man riding his bike. Not paying attention to the right side of the street, I end up falling in an even bigger mud path.

I think it’s time I pick a new street to walk on and stay away from this one.
