POETRY: Emotional Suicide
Brenda Malloy
Blackwood, NJ

Kids running around knocking things down house
Looks a mess so much things on your
Chest, only thing you can think about is rest can’t
Remember the last time you felt like you were in
Paradise only the trials and tribulations of life bills
Pills, crime that kills and terrorist threats
Only GOD knows what’s next that’s just enough
To make you wanna chill and fade
Away but yet you get up each day looking for that
Hustle to pay that bill that’s backed up
2 months late dang ain’t life great! It’s enough to
Break you down mentally, physically and
Emotionally sometimes it feels like the cards that
Was dealt should have went to someone else
Trying to fix what went wrong in the past only thing
The government want to do is kick you in the butt
Can’t get up unless you’ve been down and if
You were always up just know in your mind
They’re trying to bring you down you all way
Gotta think ahead of the person that’s ahead
Crying sometimes only soothes your mind
Some of the time so what happens when you
Cried all you can cry and your mind is filled
With anger and frustration and there’s only minutes
Before you run out of time and before you realize you
Just have committed emotional suicide.
